When a person is exposed to a substance, that while not dangerous in its natural form is dangerous or "toxic" in a form altered by people/science, and is harmed as result of exposure, the injured party may be entitled to seek financial compensation. A key consideration in this type of situation is if the person or company responsible for the modification/alteration of the substance (a) failed to warn of danger or tried to prevent exposure and/or (b) showed a conscious indifference to the situation primarily due to economic gain.
